This was the problem facing ABB Bomem’s engineers when they produced the new MB3000 series of instruments. The original MB series had an unparalleled reputation as robust and reliable instruments, with many instruments well into their second decade of service. The most common service requirements were for replacement of the consumable parts: infrared sources and the internal HeNe laser reference.  The MB3000 series further reduces your cost of ownership by replacing the HeNe laser with a solid state (VCSEL) diode laser and by new technology which extends source lifetime to an average of 10 years.
